About
Hi, I’m Kristin — the human who dreamt up Pliable Art
I’m an artist and entrepreneur based in Newburgh, Indiana; ENFP; happy to be here; preoccupied with helping kids and elderly live their artistic dreams; known for never being in a hurry.
What We Do.
- Casual, therapeutic art workshops
- Community art projects of all sizes
- Local art your home is hungry for
- Visual arts mentorship for youth and elderly
Why we do it.
We’re here because, quite frankly, being human is hard. Our minds are extraordinary, but sometimes a tangled heap of thought, action, memory, feeling, and experience that no string of our modern English alphabet can touch. Toss in current events and the media (aren’t we all going a little nutso?) and hello, gargantuan brain knot.
The good news? Art helps. It’s true. Science says so. But I’m an artist, not a scientist. I’ll spare you the details of the psychological and physiological impact.
Anyway. every piece of art is pliable — you can keep working it, tweaking it, adding and subtracting as you see fit. This is equally true for the mind. To become adjustable to varying conditions, to bend repeatedly without breaking. We’re here to use art-making to teach others to be pliable in their own ways. We have no control over the storm, but we can calm ourselves to weather the storm better. And art-making is one way to do it.
Let’s get better acquainted.
